Where do you install XToMe ?
The advantages of XToMe.
- 100% spam detection, receiver gets no spam.
- No single desired e-mail will be viewed as spam (no false positives).
- Mailer identification
possible. The certainty an e-mail is sent by the true sender.
- No "possible spam" folder to wrestle through, this folder doesn't exist.
- No fuzzy filter technique, you know
which e-mail will be passed through.
- Negative effects from abuse of e-mail
addresses will be eliminated.
- Increasing productivity
Employees receive unwanted e-mails which refer to beautiful websites
with possible viruses which they visits. If you do not receive these
e-mails it will increase your productivity remarkably. It's also possible
to block non relevant e-mails (newsletters).
- Virus in general
Up until now viruses were directed at destroying information. Criminals
focus themselves at generating an income with the aid of viruses.
These viruses can not be stopped by spamfilters in general or detected
by anti virus programs. With the aid of XToMe you won't receive these
e-mails anymore, and if you were to receive such an e-mail, it's easy
to detect because of the lack of the large amount of e-mails that
can distract you. (e.g. espionage of information, locking of files,
misuse of computers, accessing of a network, (IP)dialers)
- Saving costs on the IT infrastructure (spamfilters require a lot
of computer power and maintenance)
Back
The main advantages of XToMe compared to spamfilters.
- XToMe is language independent.
Spam filters filter through text in a particular language. Spam, will not be withheld in a strange
language by the filter.
- XToMe has no folder where "possible" spam can be held.
Because filters are not 100% trust worthy a folder is created where "possible" spam
can be held. This can be maintained manually by the user. This is difficult, irritating and demands precious time and concentration.
- XToMe require no additional instructions.
Filters expect you to indicate on a regular basis what you wish to receive and not receive.
- XToMe does not clog up.
Most filters clog up after a while especially
when they are learning. Therefore they become inaccurate and slow.
- XToMe lightens workload when your e-mail address has been abused.
Should a spammer send spam using your e-mail address then XToMe will
stop all undelivered e-mail. A filter will not do this!
- XToMe limits the risk of infection with viruses considerably.
Spamfilters pass more viruses.
XToMe is 100% reliable, easy to use, accurate and user friendly.

Opt-In
The Opt-in system is auniversal, excepted system to send e-mails
(often periodical) on a large scale (newsletters, special offers).
It means that every recipient must give permission in advance in
order to be sent the e-mail. Usually that happens because somebody
types in his email address on an application form on a website,
or by sending a "subscribe" e-mail.
XToMe has the option to support the Opt-in procedure. Senders of
this kind of e-mail can be passed through, send us an e-mail and
we will arrange that the sender is added to the (hidden) whitelist
(This list is not assessable in the Home Edition).
If however you receive e-mail from a sender and you have not given
permission, sent us a complaint by e-mail. By multiple incidents
we will contact the sender at which point certain sanctions will
not be excluded.
We have to make sure that spammers can not use this method to send
spam.
In the (Small) Business Edition
and Enterprise Edition the system administrator can change these list.

How does XToMe work (Level 1 and 2)?
XToMe has 2 security levels;
Level 1 : Sender confirms key just once
Level 2 : Sender confirms key just once and adds the key to the name of
the recepiant. (key stands behind the name)
Level 1
XToMe passes only e-mails of e-mail addresses that have ones confirmed an
key. Without user intervention.
For example.
John wants to send you an e-mail but you don't know John, and he has never
sent you an e-mail before.
XToMe sees John's e-mail and returns an e-mail to him along with a image,
with a unique number (the key) has been placed in this image.
At this point John must confirm the number (key) by means of sending back this
(number) key in the subject of an e-mail.
XToMe sees that John has confirmed the
number and sends the e-mail (which was initially blocked by XToMe) to
the inbox of your e-mail program. The next time that John sends an e-mail,
XToMe will pass the e-mail.
Level 2
XToMe only allows e-mail accompanied by a unique key. Without user intervention.
For example.
John wants to send you an e-mail but you don't know John and he has
never sent you an e-mail before.
XToMe sees John's e-mail and returns a e-mail to him along with a image.
A unique number has been placed in this image.
At this point John must do two things: (for this we have a help program
"Assist");
- He must place the image-number (key) behind your name in his address
book.
- The key (number) must be confirmed by means of an e-mail.
XToMe sees that John has confirmed the
number and sends the e-mail (which initially was blocked by XToMe) to
the inbox of your e-mail program. The next time that John sends an e-mail
to you he must use the name (your name) from his address book (with
the key) and only then will XToMe allow this e-mail because it sees
the unique key.
The main advantage of level 2 is;
- You definitely know the e-mail comes from the owner of the e-mail address.
- Only an e-mail address is insufficient to pass e-mails.
- Inconvenience by misuse of your e-mail address will not be passed on.
Comments to users;
POP : The e-mails on the server of the
internet provider will be downloaded when the key has been confirmed/connected.
Server: The e-mails will be passed to the mail server (e.g. exchange,
qmail) when the key has been confirmed/connected.

Why don't you receive spam anymore with XToMe?
Spammers do not expect to receive e-mail back. A spammer can send
100,000 e-mails and he doesn't want or take the time to react to the
e-mails. Let us assume that he has sent spam e-mail to XToMe users,
XToMe will then serve the spammer with 50,000 images to review and confirm.
This process cannot be automated. A computer cannot decipher the number. And more often than not the spammers will use someone else's
e-mail address which means that the spammer will no longer see the images
(look at : How does XToMe work?).
Back
Does everyone have to use an unique key ?
You can determine whether or not you wish to use a key. It is possible
to specify and use certain domains (e.g. …..@force.nl) and specific
e-mail addresses (e.g. smith@force.nl) and grant them passage without
having to use a key.
Back
Can I block particular senders ? (personal/company blacklist)
Yes, you can block particular domains or specific e-mail addresses
so that no e-mail can ever be received again from these sources.
Back
What happens when a spammer gets hold of a unique key? (level 2)
The unique key only works in combination with a particular e-mail
address. Should both be correct then Spam e-mail can enter your inbox.
You can see this and with one click on the mouse you can send an e-mail
to the original e-mail address holder stating that he must use another
unique key in the future. The old key is rendered useless.
Back
Additional advantages.
- When a spammer uses your e-mail address in order to send spam e-mail
you would normally receive a large number of e-mails in your inbox
stating that these e-mail haven't been delivered. With XToMe you do
not have this burden.
- XToMe only downloads the desired e-mail from the server of your
internet provider. After a number of days the rest is automatically
removed. With this you reduce the chances of viruses to your computer.
Back
Where do you install XToMe ?
XToMe is software. You install this in your own computer. Consequently
it is not a Web Service and as such internet provider independent.
Back
Does everyone I mail have to confirm a key? (whitelist)
No, by importing the e-mail addresses from the addressbook of your
e-mailprogram (Outlook & Outlook Express) in your personal whitelist
the e-mails of these people will be passed through without the need
to confirm a key.
Back
When I send mail do they also have to confirm a key ?
No, every one who receives an e-mail form you will be placed on the
whitelist automatically. De receiver will not be bothered with the confirmation
of a key because his e-mail address is on the whitelist.
